Rhijnvis Feith, le célèbre poète néerlandais du 18ème siècle, est né le 7 février 1753 à Zwolle dans une famille aisée.
Le grand-père de Rhijnvis, maire de Zwolle, a perdu tous ses enfants peu après leur naissance, à l'exception d'un : Pieter. De ce mariage est né seulement Rhijnvis, qui a donc été entouré d'une attention presque excessive durant ses jeunes années. L'hypersensibilité que le poète révélera plus tard peut peut-être être attribuée à l'environnement toujours protecteur dans lequel il a grandi.
