Rhijnvis Feith, der berühmte niederländische Dichter des 18. Jahrhunderts, wurde am 7. Februar 1753 in Zwolle in eine wohlhabende Familie geboren.
Rhijnvis' Großvater, Bürgermeister von Zwolle, verlor alle seine Kinder kurz nach ihrer Geburt, mit Ausnahme von einem: Pieter. Aus dessen Ehe ging nur Rhijnvis hervor, der deshalb in seinen Jugendjahren mit fast übertriebener Fürsorge umgeben war. Die Hyperempfindlichkeit, die der Dichter später zur Schau stellen wird, könnte möglicherweise der stets schützenden Umgebung zugeschrieben werden, in der er aufwuchs.
