La tour d'eau d'Assendelft date de 1885. C'est la plus ancienne tour d'eau encore existante en Hollande du Nord, bien qu'elle ne soit plus utilisée comme tour d'eau. L'une des caractéristiques de ce type de tour d'eau est le corps droit en forme de cylindre avec, en haut, un réservoir d'eau en béton, dont l'apparence extérieure a été modifiée. La tour d'eau est actuellement entre des mains privées. Au sommet, des logements sont en cours de construction.
