L'aéroport d'Antalya est situé à environ 10 km de la ville turque d'Antalya, au cœur d'une des principales régions touristiques du pays. Il a été utilisé par 18 millions de passagers en 2007, dont 15 millions d'étrangers. Il a été conçu pour pouvoir accueillir jusqu'à 35 millions de passagers.
L'aéroport possède 3 terminaux, 2 étant destinés aux vols internationaux, et l'autre pour les vols nationaux.
Il fut inauguré en avril 1998.
Beaucoup de vols sont uniquement saisonniers, du fait que plus de 80 % des passagers sont des touristes.
La construction de l'international Terminal 1 a commencé en 1996 par Bayındır Holding et il était prêt pour le service le 1er avril 1998. En 1999, Fraport AG et Bayındır Holding a signé un accord de joint venture. Le terminal 1 est exploité par Fraport AG. Maintenant il y a un autre nouveau Terminal International, terminal 2, qui est exploité par la société Celebi.
