La statue « Mademoiselle from Armentières » est érigée en novembre 2008 en hommage à la chanson, écrite en 1915 par un soldat britannique (sur un air datant des années 1830) et reprise en 1952 par Line Renaud, née ici tout près à Pont-de-Nieppe.
L'oeuvre montre une demoiselle portée par quatre soldats de la Grande Guerre : un Ecossais, un Indien, un Australien et un Anglais.
La chanson même (1915) est née de l'anecdote d'un officier anglais ayant eu un geste déplacé envers une armentiéroise qui lui repondit par une gifle.
Non loin d'ici se trouve le carré militaire au coeur du cimetière civil.
