Qui anche i più piccoli possono tenere il passo: il sentiero escursionistico dalla stazione a monte della funivia Ahornbahn sopra Mayrhofen nella valle Zillertal è ben sviluppato e adatto anche per i passeggini. Dopo poco più di 250 metri di dislivello, a 2.227 metri sul livello del mare si raggiunge la vetta, che offre un fantastico panorama sulla Zillertal e sulle montagne circostanti. Alla fine dell'escursione, ci sono rifugi e ristoranti dove fermarsi, e comode sedute vi aspettano per rilassarvi intorno al lago Ahornsee.
Il sentiero escursionistico lungo 2,7 km, ben sviluppato, inizia direttamente alla stazione a monte della funivia Ahornbahn e conduce in tornanti fino alla vetta del Filzenkogel (2227 metri). Si ritorna per stessa strada.
