In inverno molte uccelli migrano verso sud, e per alcune specie la destinazione non è più a sud del Belgio. Le oche kolgoose e le oche rietgans, per esempio. Volano migliaia di chilometri dal Grande Nord verso le zone umide lungo la costa, per poi tornare a nidificare nel circolo polare in primavera. Puoi incontrare le oche artiche - anche chiamate 'oche del freddo' - in diverse aree naturalistiche come De Blankaart (Diksmuide) e la Polder di Uitkerke (Blankenberge).
