Grand-Bru prende il suo nome dalla strada omonima Grand-Bru, che va dal villaggio al vicino Villers-Sainte-Gertrude. Inizialmente, Grand-Bru insieme a Villers-Sainte-Gertrude e al villaggio Vieux Fourneau costituiva un comune autonomo, ma nel 1977 si è fuso con alcuni comuni circostanti per formare il comune di Durbuy. A Grand-Bru ci sono alcune case e fattorie, con accanto un grande campeggio.
