Steenkerke è un luogo nella provincia di Hainaut. Fino al 1 gennaio 1977 era un comune indipendente e ora è una frazione di 's-Gravenbrakel.
Steenkerke si trova sulla ripida riva ovest della valle della Senna e la chiesa è costruita su una formazione rocciosa di ardesia. Nel paese corre l'antica strada di collegamento da Zinnik a Flandria, che è ancora ben riconoscibile nella regione e segue nel villaggio la Rue de Turenne, Place de Steenkerque e Rue du Haut Bosquet. La strada era importante per l'esportazione di pietra dalle cave intorno a Zinnik e Écaussinnes verso la contea di Flandria. Tuttavia, da quando è stata costruita la strada da Zinnik a Edingen alla fine del XVIII secolo, questa strada è caduta in disuso.
