Wakken è un comune nel Belgio nella provincia delle Fiandre Occidentali e una frazione di Dentergem. Il paese si trova a est della provincia, vicino alla confluenza del Leie e del Mandel.
Un wak era in passato un luogo molto paludoso. Il nome del comune deriverebbe da 'wack-hem'. Dassonville ritiene che 'Wackinna' sia una forma plurale romanza con il significato: terreno appartenente a qualcosa che porta il nome che inizia con 'wak', il nome di una persona o di un fiume.
