Questa riserva, situata nel comune di Westouter, si trova in un complesso di boschi sorgentiferi, praterie umide di sorgenti e terreni collinari asciutti su un suolo roccioso. In particolare, le vegetazioni in un ambiente così ricco di gradiente sono molto varie e ricche di specie. In particolare, la prateria sorgentifera (vedi foto) al Brandersbos (Prato di Dotter) e le vegetazioni boschive sorgentifere di questo bosco appartengono alle vegetazioni meglio sviluppate di questo tipo nell'intera collina del West Flanders.
