Alcuni secoli fa, il fisico svedese Carl von Linné scoprì che i fiori si aprivano o chiudevano sempre alla stessa ora. Questa constatazione portò alla nascita dell'orologio floreale. L'orologio che oggi può ammirare è collocato nel suo attuale posto solo dal 1963. Le versioni precedenti dell'orologio furono distrutte durante la seconda guerra mondiale e spazzate via dal 'Re Auto'.
