I Moeren furono bonificati solo nel XVII secolo. La zona si trova ancora sotto il livello del mare e l'acqua in eccesso viene pompata in aree più elevate e smaltita. Il paesaggio è caratterizzato da strade di collegamento diritte bordate da alberi e da appezzamenti quadrati o rettangolari. Qui e là si trova ancora un vecchio mulino a vento o i suoi resti, che venivano utilizzati per sollevare l'acqua. L'area si estende oltre il confine e viene chiamata 'Les Moëres'.
