Leffinge era un esempio tipico nel primo medioevo di una pecoraia. Le giacche in 'panno frisone', conosciute come 'pallia Fresconica' o 'mantello frisone', erano un prodotto molto ricercato di questa pianura costiera. Carlo Magno donò mantelli frisoni come regalo di relazione, tra gli altri, al califfo di Bagdad.
