Elene è un comune nella provincia belga di Fiandre Orientali e una frazione della città di Zottegem. Elene conta circa 1000 abitanti ed è rimasta a lungo un villaggio agricolo nelle Ardenne fiamminghe. Il nome Elene deriva dal pre-medioevale alina e significa "acqua chiara", probabilmente un riferimento al Molenbeek che scaturisce nei laghetti del castello di Leeuwergem. Dalla XII secolo fino all'epoca francese in Belgio, Elene fu una signoria sotto i signori di Leeuwergem e Elene, che avevano la loro residenza nel castello di Leeuwergem.
