Mater è un villaggio nella provincia belga di Fiandre Orientali ed è dal 1969 una frazione della città di Oudenaarde. È, per superficie, la frazione più grande. Mater si trova nelle Fiandre Ardenne. Al di fuori del centro abitato, Mater consiste principalmente in terreni agricoli, prati e campi, tutti situati su un terreno molto collinoso e ondulato. Per questo motivo, e perché molte strade sono ancora lastricate con ciottoli, la Abeelstraat, Kerkgate, Holleweg e Ruitersstraat a Mater sono parte integrante di gare ciclistiche come il Giro delle Fiandre. Sono stati scoperti resti di un accampamento romano nei pressi della Casterstraat, il cui nome etimologicamente risale a castrum.
