Gli attuali edifici del municipio hanno avuto diverse funzioni: scuola per tessitori, casa per anziani e orfani, scuola comunale e gendarmeria. È certo che dal 1850 le sedute del consiglio comunale si svolgevano in questo edificio e che l'amministrazione vi era già ospitata nel 1858.
L'aspetto neogotico attuale risale al 1905. Solo la facciata originale è stata mantenuta durante il restauro nel 1999, ma l'edificio ha ricevuto un ampliamento contemporaneo sul lato nord. Nella hall di ingresso c'è una maestosa scala in pietra naturale con corrimano e un orso che tiene lo scudo comunale. Nella precedente sala del consiglio, affreschi raccontano alcuni eventi notevoli della storia locale.
