Il Parco 58 prende il suo nome dall'Expo mondiale del 1958, durante la quale una parte dell'area dunale è stata organizzata come parco. Tuttavia, una parte dell'originale area dunale è rimasta conservata sotto forma di magri pascoli dunali ricchi di calcare e vegetazione arbustiva di duna. La flora di questi magri pascoli dunali è particolarmente ricca e contiene specie che altrove lungo la costa orientale sono praticamente scomparse. Attraverso un accordo di gestione con l'amministrazione comunale, quest'area unica è gestita da Natuurpunt sezione Knokke-Heist. L'area è completamente accessibile, a condizione di rispettare i valori naturali presenti.
