I terreni dell'ex base britannica, che si riferiscono alla presenza britannica tra il 1951 e il 1992, sono caratterizzati da un complesso di ampi boschi di latifoglie e conifere, alternati a diverse aree aperte di prati, erica, paludi e macchie. Le piccole superfici di erica rappresentano resti di un'originaria vasta area di erica a Grobbendonk e Herentals. Nell'area si trovano alcuni importanti reperti storici, come i resti della prioria di Nostra Signora del Trono fondata nel 1414.
