O come affermano gli stessi abitanti di Mullem: "verso la fine del mondo". Mullem è un villaggio protetto che appartiene a uno dei più belli delle Fiandre. Offre un'immagine perfetta di come appariva un villaggio nei secoli scorsi. Dal 1977, Mullem fa parte di Oudenaarde. Le case giallo ocra – il colore della nobiltà locale – hanno servito più di una volta come set cinematografico.
