Questo edificio neoclassico a Ruisbroek, risalente all'inizio del XIX secolo, è stato realizzato secondo il progetto di Ferdinand Berckmans. È un gioiello di architettura civile con una galleria elevata e affascinanti arcate a tutto sesto. Dal 1983, l'ex municipio è un monumento protetto.
Fino al 2009, il Museum De Bres ha trovato rifugio in questo splendido edificio. L'associazione senza scopo di lucro museo De Bres è stata fondata il 23 agosto 1976 per mantenere viva la memoria di tutto ciò che è accaduto a Ruisbroek nel disastroso mese di gennaio 1976. Dopo il restauro dell'edificio nel 2011, il comune di Puurs (ora Puurs-Sint-Amands) ha deciso di affittare l'edificio a privati.
