Lungo la Couthoflaan a Proven, un po' nascosto dietro alberi alti, si trova il maestoso Castello di Couthof. Nel 1763, Jean François de Sales Mazeman de Couthove, il pensionato e segretario della città di Poperinge, iniziò la costruzione di un castello neoclassico nella proprietà. La signoria di Couthove era stata acquistata circa vent'anni prima dal padre di Jean François Mazeman. La residenza avrebbe dovuto fungere da ritrovo estivo per Jean François e la sua famiglia. Il castello rimase di proprietà della famiglia Mazeman de Couthove fino al 1945, quando, a causa della mancanza di eredi, passò in possesso della famiglia d’Udekem d’Acoz. Oggi la proprietà appartiene all'ex sindaco di Poperinge e zio dell'attuale regina Mathilde, Henri d’Udekem d’Acoz.
