Camminiamo per un centinaio di metri su "Voetweg 38" lungo il laghetto del club IJse/ Neerijse per vedere il vecchio hotel. I laghetti, due grandi e alcuni più piccoli, sono alimentati da sorgenti.
Il laghetto da pesca in Kamstraat è stato realizzato dalla famiglia di birrai Bruffaerts nel 1933. Inizialmente era destinato a essere una plage di Neerijse (spiaggia). Chalet du Lac è stato aperto nel 1934 come hotel ristorante. Lì si poteva prendere il sole sulla spiaggia e pescare nel laghetto. C'erano cabine per il bagno e un trampolino per i nuotatori. Durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale l'attività si fermò e fu ripresa successivamente. Dopo la liberazione, una figlia di Winston Churchill era una cliente abituale. Nel 1958, l'anno dell'Expo di Heysel con l'Atomium, fu un anno di picco per l'hotel. Nel 1965 l'hotel ristorante ha chiuso. L'edificio è ancora lì ed è ora una residenza.
