Sulla Grote Markt di Anversa si trova la statua della mano di Jef Lambeaux. Rappresenta la leggenda attorno al comandante romano Silvius Brabo. Dopo che Giulio Cesare partì dalla Gallia per l'Inghilterra, lasciò Silvius Brabo con l'ordine di governare su questa parte dell'impero romano. Tuttavia, c'era solo un luogo dove il fiume Schelda poteva essere attraversato e lì il gigante Antigone chiedeva un pedaggio.
Se i viaggiatori non avevano abbastanza soldi per pagare la traversata, il gigante Antigone offriva loro la scelta tra due opzioni. O tagliarsi la mano, oppure combattere fino alla morte con il gigante.
Quando Brabo sentì questo si recò sul luogo per sfidare il gigante. Riescì a tagliargli la mano e a buttarla oltre il fiume Schelda dicendo: "fino a dove questa mano cadrà, il Brabante si estenderà".
Questa leggenda fu evocata attorno al 16º secolo.
