San Gallo è una città della Svizzera, è l'ottava città svizzera per numero di abitanti e capoluogo dell'omonimo cantone.
Situato ad un'altitudine di circa 700 m s.l.m. sulle rive del fiume Steinach che sfocia nel poco distante Lago di Costanza, il centro abitato si sviluppa nella vallata compresa fra due sistemi collinari, il Rosenberg a nord e il Freudenberg a sud. La vallata è delimitata a sud-ovest dalla stretta gola del fiume Sitter, a nord-est il fiume Steinach scorre in uscita dalla città verso il lago di Costanza.
