Steina è un comune sassone nel distretto di Bautzen e membro della comunità amministrativa di Pulsnitz.
Steina si trova a circa 30 chilometri a nord di Dresda, tra Kamenz e Pulsnitz, ai margini della regione montuosa della Lusazia, nella zona protetta paesaggistica della Lusazia occidentale. Il paese si estende - come tipico villaggio lineare con campi boschivi - per oltre 7 chilometri e si suddivide nei centri abitati di Weißbach, Niedersteina e Obersteina. Attraverso il paese scorre il Weißbach, un affluente dell'Haselbach, che confluisce nella Pulsnitz presso Reichenau. Caratteristica per Steina è la sua struttura vicino alle montagne di medio-altezza, con il terreno dominato dallo Schwedenstein.
