Il comune si trova nella regione del Basso Main Bavarese, sul lato destro, qui orientale, del Meno. Il punto topograficamente più alto del comune si trova a 359 m s.l.m. sul Eichelsberg a nord-ovest di Eichelsbach, il più basso si trova nel Meno a 112,5 m s.l.m.
Il nome Kleinwallstadt è composto dalle parole in alto tedesco Walah per Romani e stat per abitazione. La spiegazione deriva quindi da abitazione dei Romani. I nomi aggiuntivi temporaneamente utilizzati Klein, Wenig e Bischofs, così come le differenziazioni latinizzate minor ed Episcopi, dovevano differenziarlo da Großwallstadt. L'aggiunta Bischofs si riferisce alla signoria del vescovo.
