Lichtenstein è un comune nel Baden-Württemberg con 9190 abitanti. Fa parte della regione Neckar-Alb e della zona periferica della regione metropolitana europea di Stoccarda. Si trova sul versante nord della media Alb sveva, circa dieci chilometri a sud della città di circondario di Reutlingen. La sede dell'amministrazione comunale è la frazione di Unterhausen. Lichtenstein fa parte della riserva della biosfera dell'Alb sveva con il 7,3% della superficie del proprio territorio. Il nome del comune deriva dal suo monumento più famoso, il castello di Lichtenstein, situato su un promontorio roccioso sopra il versante occidentale della valle dell'Echaz superiore.
