Westhoven confina a nord con Humboldt/Gremberg, a nord-est con Gremberghoven, a est con Ensen, a sud con il Reno e a nord-ovest con l'autostrada federale 4 a Poll. A sud, sulla riva sinistra del Reno, si trova il quartiere di Rodenkirchen.
I primi segni di vita umana risalgono al Neolitico. Ci sono resti della cultura di Rössener. È stato scoperto un piccolo contenitore in una cava di laterizio, decorato con righe orizzontali di ampie incisioni. Dall'altro, mescolato con resti della cultura di Michelsberg, poiché il sito conteneva pezzi di ceramica.
