Horbach fell under the Saint Laurence parish until the beginning of the 11th century and then under that of Richterich. From 1361 it became part of the Duchy of Guelders. Only in the 15th century did the village get its own chapel, which was largely destroyed during the Eighty Years' War and rebuilt in 1632. In 1804, Horbach, along with Richterich, was elevated to parish status. The population at that time was 623. In 1972, Horbach became part of Aachen.
