Horbach cayó bajo la parroquia de San Lorenzo hasta principios del siglo XI y luego bajo la de Richterich. A partir de 1361, formó parte del Ducado de Gulik. Solo en el siglo XV, el pueblo tuvo su propia capilla, que fue en gran parte destruida durante la Guerra de los Ochenta Años y reconstruida en 1632. En 1804, Horbach fue elevado a parroquia junto con Richterich. En ese momento, la población era de 623 habitantes. En 1972, Horbach se unió a Aquisgrán.
