Weinheim è una città di medie dimensioni nel nord-ovest del Baden-Württemberg. Si trova a circa 18 km a nord di Heidelberg e a circa 15 km a nord-est di Mannheim lungo la Strada delle Montagne del Baden nella metropoli europea del Reno-Neckar. Weinheim è la città più grande del circondario del Reno-Neckar ed è una Grande città circolare dal 1 aprile 1956. A causa dei suoi due simboli, la rovine di Windeck e il Wachenburg, porta il soprannome di "Città delle Due Rocce". Fino al 1803 Weinheim faceva parte della allora cancellata Elettorato del Palatinato; linguisticamente, il dialetto locale di Weinheim, Woinemerisch, appartiene ai dialetti del Palatinato.
