La comunità si trova nel Parco Nazionale Eifel nella Rureifel e nel Parco Naturale Nordeifel. Il punto più alto del territorio comunale è presso la Foresteria Jägerhaus sul Langschoß a 566 m s.l.m., il punto più basso tra Gey e Birgel a 170 m di altezza.
Nel Medioevo, nella frazione di Bergstein, sulla collina del castello si trovava il castello imperiale Burg Berenstein. Oggi è riconoscibile solo come un rudere. Lì si trova la torre panoramica Krawutschketurm.
