La stazione di Hennef si trova nel centro della città di Hennef, nel distretto di Rhein-Sieg. Fu inaugurata nel 1859 dalla ferrovia Cöln-Mindener con la linea Sieg e serviva per il traffico passeggeri e merci. Oggi qui circolano regolarmente il RE 9 con cadenza oraria e la S 12 / S 19 con sei treni all'ora per Colonia Hauptbahnhof, di cui un treno ogni mezz'ora fino ad Au, mentre il RE 9 viene potenziato durante le ore di punta del mattino in direzione di Colonia e del pomeriggio in direzione di Siegen. Raramente transitano anche treni merci attraverso la stazione. Tutti i treni passeggeri che transitano regolarmente per la stazione sono gestiti da DB Regio NRW. La stazione appartiene oggi alla classe di prezzo 4 ed è una stazione passante. L'abbreviazione per i luoghi di esercizio è KHEN, mentre il numero internazionale della stazione è 8002753.
