Il Hagenberg si trova sul lato sud del monte Teutoburgo, a est del centro di Bad Iburg e del castello di Iburg. La prossima elevazione a est è il Freeden. Il Hagenberg è ampiamente abitato. Sul versante est si trova il vecchio cimitero dell'ex borgo di Iburg. La scuola elementare "Grundschule am Hagenberg" prende il nome dalla montagna, ed è stata costruita nel 1959 sul lato nord del Hagenberg, inizialmente gestita separatamente come scuola elementare cattolica e protestante. Attraverso il Hagenberg passa il sentiero Ahornweg, un percorso di circa 90 chilometri a forma di anello, il cui nodo si trova a Bad Iburg.
