Il Piccolo Winterberg è una cima secondaria alta 837 m s.l.m. del Wurmberg, situato nel vicino Niedersachsen, nell'area montuosa dell'Harz. Si trova nei pressi di Schierke, nel distretto di Harz, in Sassonia-Anhalt.
Il Piccolo Winterberg si innalza nel Parco Naturale Harz/Sassonia-Anhalt immediatamente a est del confine con il Niedersachsen. La sua vetta si trova a circa 2,2 km a sud-ovest del villaggio di Schierke, che appartiene alla città di Wernigerode. A nord-est si erge, oltre il Schierke, il Hohnekamm, situato oltre il fiume Kalte Bode. Verso sud-est, il paesaggio si estende verso il Barenberg, mentre a sud scende nella valle della Bremke, che ha origine nell'area di transizione verso il Wurmberg, situato a ovest e oltre il confine statale. A nord-ovest si trova il Grande Winterberg e oltre di esso il Brocken.
