Cunnersdorf si trova a sud-est della capitale sassone Dresda, nella Svizzera sassone e nelle Montagne di Elbsandstein. Si trova a est del distretto della Svizzera sassone-Osterzgebirge, nell'area di protezione paesaggistica della Svizzera sassone. A nord di Cunnersdorf, ma al di fuori dei suoi confini, si erge il Gohrisch e a nord-ovest il Pfaffenstein, due montagne a forma di tavola.
Il villaggio forestale si trova circa nel centro del comune di Gohrisch. La località si trova tra i 270 e i 320 m sul livello del mare in una vallata del Torrente Cunnersdorfer, che sopra la frazione Hütten di Königstein confluisce da destra nella Biela. Ancora oggi a Cunnersdorf si possono vedere alcune fattorie a tre lati con fondazioni in arenaria e piani in legno, tra cui il Forsthof situato a sud con una villa, edifici agricoli e un portale, che apparteneva alla famiglia von Friesen e in ultimo a Haebler.
