Il Monte Kerbsche è una piccola altura nella valle dell'Unstrut lungo la strada distrettuale K 220 tra Dingelstädt e Kefferhausen e si eleva di circa 20 metri sopra la valle. Si trova sul versante orientale dell'Alto Eichsfeld, al passaggio verso il Dün situato a nord. A ovest corre la ex ferrovia Leinefelde–Treysa con un viadotto sopra la strada di Kefferhausen, mentre a sud, lungo l'Unstrut, si trova il Mulino Kerbsche.
Il Monte Kerbsche era originariamente chiamato Monte Kirchbergischer e rimanda a una chiesa antica sul monte. Nel corso dei secoli, la montagna è stata menzionata nei documenti con vari nomi. Attraverso diverse variazioni e omissioni di sillabe all'interno dell'area dialettale turingia, è emersa la designazione oggi in uso di Monte Kerbscher.
