La Croce dei Cappuccini ( Kapuzinerkreuz ), nota anche come Doppelkreuz , risale originariamente al 1750 e fu restaurata nel 1857 .
Purtroppo, fu completamente distrutta nel 1940 da un veicolo militare durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale. Grazie agli sforzi e alle donazioni della popolazione locale, la croce fu ricostruita nel 1953. La nuova versione fu progettata dallo scultore August Julius Lebensted di Kröv e consacrata il 14 giugno 1953 .
La croce raffigura due figure crocifisse : una con la testa rivolta al cielo e l'altra con la testa china a terra. Secondo il sindaco Dr. Anton Ley, le due figure femminili ai lati della croce simboleggiano rispettivamente "la più alta perfezione femminile" e "la possibilità di redenzione dalla debolezza umana".
La Croce dei Cappuccini non è solo un simbolo religioso, ma anche un ricordo della resilienza della comunità di Bernkastel-Kues . È un luogo di contemplazione e di memoria e rappresenta una parte importante del patrimonio culturale della città.
