Era la casa di Rodrigo de Bastidas, che fu il fondatore di diverse città dell'America del Sud. L'edificio di 3.000 metri quadrati è costruito attorno a un cortile centrale rettangolare. La casa presenta lunghi corridoi che collegano il cortile attraverso una moltitudine di archi romani.
Per oltre un secolo, la casa fu abitata dai discendenti di Rodrigo Bastidas, e poi fu utilizzata da diverse istituzioni governative, per cui ora ospita il Museo del Bambino Dominicano.
