Montgat[1] è un comune e località spagnola della provincia di Barcellona, in Catalogna. Appartenente alla comarca di El Maresme, conta una popolazione di 12.260 abitanti.
Ci sono diverse teorie sull'origine del suo nome, una delle quali sostiene che l'origine sia iberica, da "Mons-Cot", che significa "Monte di Pietra". In un documento del monastero di Sant Pere de les Puelles, appare il nome "Monte Chato".
