Nizza è una grande città francese con 342.669 abitanti sulla costa mediterranea nel dipartimento delle Alpi Marittime nella regione Provenza-Alpi-Costa Azzurra.
Nizza è la quinta città della Francia per popolazione e la seconda città della regione provenzale Provenza-Alpi-Costa Azzurra dopo Marsiglia. Nizza è sede della prefettura del dipartimento delle Alpi Marittime. Si trova tra Cannes e il Principato di Monaco, a circa 23 chilometri dal confine con l'Italia. Insieme ad altre 48 comuni, Nizza forma l'unione comunale Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur. Il numero di abitanti nell'area metropolitana supera i 944.000, mentre l'aire urbaine conta 1,1 milioni di abitanti.
