Commissionato da Napoleone I per celebrare il trionfo delle sue armate nella battaglia di Austerlitz, l'arco più grande del mondo fu eretto tra il 1806 e il 1836. Dal 1921 ospita la tomba del Milite Ignoto, la cui fiamma di commemorazione viene riaccesa ogni sera. La vista panoramica della capitale dalla sua terrazza sul tetto è mozzafiato.
