Il volo Air France 8969 era un volo di linea di Air France, operato con un Airbus A300B4 marche F-GBEC, che dal 24 al 26 dicembre 1994 fu dirottato da 4 terroristi del Gruppo Islamico Armato ad Algeri, luogo in cui furono uccisi 3 passeggeri. Quando l'aereo raggiunse Marsiglia, il GIGN, il gruppo di intervento della Gendarmerie nazionale fece irruzione nell'aereo uccidendo i dirottatori. I terroristi avevano intenzione di schiantarsi sulla Torre Eiffel.
