La prise d'otages du vol Air France 8969 , vol d'Air France reliant Alger à Paris , par quatre membres du Groupe islamique armé , se déroule du 24 au 26 décembre 1994.La prise d'otage commence à Alger, où l'appareil, un Airbus A300 de 220 passagers, stationne deux jours ; l'avion décolle ensuite vers Paris mais doit faire une escale pour un ravitaillement en carburant à Marseille, au cours de laquelle l'assaut du Groupe d'intervention de la Gendarmerie nationale met fin au détournement.
