Questo castello è un notevole esempio dell'architettura del Rinascimento mosano, un sottile compromesso tra i vincoli militari e lo splendore di una residenza principesca (XVI secolo).Modellato a partire dal X secolo dai proprietari che si sono succeduti, il castello di Hierges ha svolto un ruolo decisivo nella trasmissione delle conoscenze bizantine durante il ritorno dalle Crociate.Fu anche al centro delle lotte di potere tra Francesco I e Carlo V. Residenza di grandi signori e personaggi illustri, questa fortezza fu un luogo di intrighi, giochi di potere e strategie che influenzarono la storia di questa regione. Il castello di Hierges ha avuto anche l'immenso privilegio di ospitare tra le sue mura diverse famiglie reali nel corso del XX secolo. Il castello non è aperto al pubblico.
