La chiesa abbaziale si trova nel cuore della foresta di Compiègne, nel villaggio di Saint-Jean-aux-Bois. Fu fondata nel 1152 come abbazia di monache benedettine dalla regina Adelaide di Savoia (vedova di Luigi VI). Nel 1220, l'abbazia fu dotata di una nuova chiesa in stile gotico... La chiesa abbaziale fu trasformata in chiesa parrocchiale nel XVIII secolo.
Oggi rimangono la chiesa, la sala capitolare e la porta fortificata (gli unici resti dell'abbazia).
