Dalla seconda metà del XIX secolo, qui venivano costruite le capanne dei marinai. Nel corso degli anni, il porto ha subito diverse trasformazioni, in particolare nel 1959 con la creazione di un molo centrale per ospitare gli allevamenti di ostriche. Nel 1984-1985, il porto di La Hume è diventato un vero e proprio porto turistico, con una capacità di 450 barche su pontili, oltre a un'area visitatori per la sosta e servizi igienici in loco.
Dispone inoltre di un'ampia e bella spiaggia fiancheggiata da tamerici, perfetta per giocare e rilassarsi.
