La foresta Hermitain si estende per 614 ettari e ospita principalmente castagni, querce e betulle. Sono stati identificati alcuni alberi notevoli, tra cui una quercia che porta il nome di "Le Patriarche".
Rappresenta una delle due foreste statali delle Deux Sèvres ed è gestita come foresta pubblica dall'ONF (Office Nationale des Forêts).
I suoi sentieri sono accessibili a piedi, in bicicletta e a cavallo.
Dopo Souvigné, all'incrocio tra la D10 e la D5, si trova un parcheggio alberato.
