Il complesso fortificato di Villard fu costruito a partire dal XII secolo dai vescovi di Mende. Si trattava di una fortificazione difensiva costruita per proteggere il castello di Chanac.
I resti del mastio risalgono al Medioevo, ma il massiccio edificio con finestre a croce risale al XVI secolo.
La chiesa romanica è stata ricostruita in epoca gotica ed è ornata da dipinti murali.
